Carthage, MS (January 20, 2022) – On Wednesday morning, January 19, two people were injured in a serious tractor-trailer crash at a Carthage intersection.
Carthage Police confirmed that the accident happened at 6:06 a.m. at the intersection of MS-35 and MS-25. An 18-wheeler was traveling in the area when it entered the intersection, forcefully colliding with a passenger vehicle that was also going through. The accident caused severe damages to the passenger vehicle, trapping one person inside.
Emergency Medical Services, Carthage Fire Department officials, and other parties were immediately dispatched to the scene to help. The individual who was trapped in their vehicle had to be cut from the vehicle by fire crews. Two individuals were hospitalized, though their current conditions and identities are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the collision, a large portion of the intersection was completely blocked until police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time.
