Mississippi Traffic Accidents

Traffic collisions can leave individuals with severe or even life-altering injuries. Oftentimes, those hurt in car wrecks find themselves stuck in the hospital or at home where they must deal with pain, suffering, and emotional stress related to their injuries and the accident that caused them. Suffering serious injuries in any type of accident is no joke, and can completely uproot your life and the lives of those you love.

When semi-trucks become involved in traffic collisions, individuals often suffer catastrophic or fatal injuries. Semi-trucks are usually around 20 to 30 times heavier than average-sized passenger vehicles, meaning they cause serious damage when accidents happen. Additionally, truck drivers are sometimes overworked, extremely fatigued, or distracted. This can increase the chance of an accident occurring.

Every year, in the United States, more than 6 million car crashes are reported. Hundreds of thousands of these involve semi-trucks. The majority of these accidents are caused by negligent driving, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association. Of these incidents, around 3 million people are hurt and approximately 40,000 end up losing their lives. In the state of Mississippi alone, hundreds of thousands of car crashes happen annually that injure tens of thousands and take the lives of hundreds per year.

When you or a loved one has been hurt in a collision, you are undoubtedly going through a tumultuous time.

Depending on the severity of your injuries, you could be facing steep medical bills that could range in the tens of thousands of dollars. When these are paired with vehicle repair or replacement costs and lost wages, you may be facing a financial burden that is difficult to combat on your own.

The only thing more devastating than suffering injuries in a traffic accident is losing someone you love. If you have recently lost a loved one in an auto accident a wrongful death lawyer in Clay County may be able to help you financially recover. An attorney can help you get compensation for funeral costs and more.

Negligent driving is illegal and often punishable by large fines and even jail time. In extreme cases, negligent drivers are required to pay punitive damages to injured parties. These come out-of-pocket and are meant to serve as a punishment for gross negligence leading to injury.
