Columbus, MS (May 20, 2022) – A driver was injured in a serious truck accident that took place at an intersection in Columbus on Tuesday morning, May 17.
According to local officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 45 and 18th Avenue. One driver was attempting to leave the Kroger parking lot when their vehicle was suddenly struck by a tractor-trailer that did not see them in time. The sedan sustained severe damages as a result of the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The driver of the sedan, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police confirmed that they were conscious at the scene before being taken to the hospital.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time. Police believe that the traffic lights at the intersection may have been malfunctioning at the time of the accident.
