Columbus, MS (February 28, 2022) – One person was hurt in a pedestrian crash that took place at a restaurant in Columbus on Saturday night, February 26.
According to Columbus Police, the accident happened at the Jalisco Mexican Grill. A driver was traveling in the area when they suddenly lost control of their vehicle due to reasons that are not yet known. The driver drove into the restaurant, causing debris and glass to cover the floor. An employee was standing at the register talking to their boss when they were struck.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The employee sustained injuries as a result of the collision. They were hospitalized, though they are expected to recover. The driver was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Due to the severity of the collision, the restaurant had to be closed down. It will take some time to get it running again following the damages caused by the accident.
No further details have been released. Columbus Police will continue their investigation at this time.
