Columbus, MS (October 28, 2023) – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of an accident in the New Hope neighborhood that resulted in injuries.
The accident occurred at around 2:00 p.m. on October 26.
Reports provided by local law enforcement show that a Lexus SUV and a motorcycle collided on Highway 182 near Lee Stokes Road. The incident prompted officials to shut down the roadway.
The motorcyclist sustained injuries as a result of the crash. The victim was airlifted and flown by medical helicopter to an area hospital for emergency care.
The crash is being investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
