Workplace Accidents in Mississippi
In 2014, 71 people were killed in work-related accidents in Mississippi. Thirty of those accidents were transportation-related, four were due to explosions or fires, eleven were caused by falls, nine were from exposure to toxic or dangerous substances, nine involved machinery or equipment, and the remaining eight were associated with violence or malicious injuries inflicted by a coworker.
When a workplace injury, however it happens, results in a fatality, the surviving family members of the deceased might be entitled to workers’ compensation death benefits. According to Mississippi workers’ compensation law, death benefits are subjected to numerous deadlines and restrictions, making them difficult to understand without the legal guidance of an experienced Mississippi personal injury attorney.
No one is ever prepared to face the aftermath of a fatal Mississippi workplace accident on their own. The families of the victims of these serious accidents could be left with questions that they cannot answer on their own.
For instance, what types of deadlines will you be required to meet when it comes to your case? What evidence will you need to prove that another party is to blame for your loved one’s accident? Will your case be settled or will it make it all the way to trial?
These are questions that a personal injury attorney in Mississippi will be able to help you with.
