Columbus, MS (March 24, 2022) – On Thursday afternoon, March 24, a dump truck accident happened on a roadway in Columbus.
According to Columbus officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Bluecutt Road and MS-45. A Nissan was driving west on Bluecutt when it entered the intersection, causing it to forcefully collide with a dump truck that was also traveling through the intersection. The dump truck was struck so forcefully that it ran into the ditch, its bed detaching from the back of the vehicle.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Nissan, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
