Mississippi Pedestrian Wrecks

Covington County, MS - Phillip Allan Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Hwy 49

Thousands of people are injured in auto accidents each year in Mississippi. A percentage of these involve pedestrians. Throughout the country, over 6,000 pedestrians are killed each year due to traffic accidents, and tens of thousands more sustain injuries. The types of injuries people sustain vary greatly, from severe whiplash and broken bones to spinal cord injuries and brain damage.

Broken bones are some of the most commonly seen types of injuries that result from severe auto/pedestrian accidents. While a person can break virtually any bone in their body when they’re involved in a crash, most often, we see fractures that occur in the legs, ribs, and arms. These breaks can be very painful and difficult to heal from and often require surgery and long stays in the hospital.

Spinal cord damage is another common injury seen in auto accidents. Damage to the spinal cord can range from a minor injury like a herniated disk to a severe injury that completely paralyzes the victim.

Soft tissue injuries are also commonly seen in auto collisions. These usually happen in the neck, back, abdomen, and shoulders.

If you or someone you love has been seriously hurt in a traffic accident, you may be eligible to file a personal injury claim against the responsible party. This type of claim can help you get the financial compensation you need to pay for the medical care you require to heal from your injuries, as well as cover the costs associated with vehicle repairs, wage loss, and more.
