DeSoto County, MS – Michael W. Garner Killed in Crash on Hwy 61 near Goodman Rd

DeSoto County, MS (September 30, 2023) – A man from Southaven, identified as 33-year-old Michael W. Garner, lost his life in a car crash in DeSoto County. The collision was reported to have taken place just before 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning, September 29. 

Responders went to the scene on Highway 61, just north of Goodman Road, after receiving reports concerning the incident. The Mississippi Highway Patrol reports that a 2015 GMC operated by Garner collided with the back end of a 2002 International operated by 59-year-old David Royal. 

Both vehicles were headed north on the highway when the collision occurred. Garner lost his life due to the severity of his injuries. Police in DeSoto County continue to investigate.
