Edinburg, MS (May 9, 2022) – Deputies confirmed that one person was injured in a car accident that took place at an Edinburg intersection on Monday afternoon, May 5.
According to Leake County deputies, the accident happened at 12:57 p.m. at the intersection of MS-16 and Mars Hill Road. Police immediately responded to the scene where they discovered that two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection when they entered at the same time. The involved vehicles were badly damaged in the accident.
Paramedics and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One person was injured as a result of the accident, though their identity is not yet known. The party was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The roadway was entirely blocked at the intersection for a short period of time. Police quickly worked to remove vehicles and debris from the roadway so traffic could return to normal.
Leake County officials continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
