Fayette, MS (March 23, 2022) – Two people were killed in a fatal car accident that took place on Tuesday morning, March 22, in Fayette.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 1:45 a.m. on MS-552. Police confirmed that 23-year-old Jarrius Gillespie was driving in his Dodge pickup and 20-year-old Alicia Triplett was traveling in the same lane in her Nissan SUV. Due to reasons that are not yet known, the two vehicles collided with each other. Both vehicles were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Gillespie and his passenger, identified as 20-year-old Jaeda Anthony, were both pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area of the accident. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
