Mississippi Car Accidents

Gulfport, MS - Five-Car Crash on I-10 Involving 18-Wheeler near Long Beach-Gulfport lineAccording to recent reports concerning traffic accidents in Mississippi, approximately  26 fatalities related to car crashes are reported per 100,000 people in the state. Car wrecks cause tens of thousands of people in the state of Mississippi to sustain injuries every year. In many instances, chain reaction collisions leave people with injuries that are devastating and debilitating. Chain reaction accidents happen for numerous reasons, including driver error, weather conditions, and speeding.

  • Speed: When vehicles are traveling at unsafe speeds, chain reaction collisions are more likely to occur. When drivers are traveling too fast, they are left with little to no time to react safely. This can lead to disaster if road conditions unexpectedly change or if another driver makes a sudden move.
  • Driver error: Another common reason chain reaction accidents happen is driver error. This can include things like aggressive driving, careless driving, and drunk driving. Drivers who are not paying attention to the road are more likely to cause a collision which can then lead to a chain reaction.
  • Weather conditions: Inclement weather conditions can also cause chain reaction crashes. Low visibility due to rain or fog can make it hard to see what’s ahead, while slippery roads can make it hard to turn in time or stop to avoid an accident.
