Gulfport, MS (July 28, 2022) – A pedestrian was critically injured in a car accident reported in Gulfport on Wednesday, July 27. The wreck was reported in the morning hours, according to information from officials.
Sources say the incident occurred on US-49 near Highway 53. A pedestrian was walking along the roadway when they were struck by an oncoming car. The injuries suffered by the victim were deemed critical and they were airlifted from the scene to a local hospital for treatment.
The roadway was blocked for an extended period of time on the morning of July 27. Local drivers were asked to use alternate routes of travel for the time being.
Currently, nothing further has been reported concerning the details of the wreck.
