Gulfport, MS (April 12, 2022) – Two people sustained injuries in a head-on collision that took place on a roadway in Gulfport on Tuesday afternoon, April 12.
According to local officials, the accident happened at 3:30 p.m. on County Farm Road near the area of Robinson Road. Two pickup trucks were traveling in the area when police say one lost control and collided head-on with the other. Both of the vehicles had extensive front-end damage due to the accident. One of the vehicles caught on fire briefly until it was brought under control.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Both of the drivers were trapped inside their vehicles and had to be extricated by fire crews. Both of the victims sustained major injuries in the collision. One of the victims had to be airlifted to the hospital due to the extent of their injuries.
The roadway was blocked for several hours as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
