Hernando, MS (February 24, 2022) – On Thursday, February 24, a car accident took place during rainy conditions in the northbound lanes of a major highway.
Local officials confirmed that the accident happened in the afternoon hours in the northbound lanes of I-269 around the area of McIngvale Road. Several vehicles were traveling on the highway in the area when they suddenly collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their identities and conditions are not known at this time.
The roadway was blocked in many northbound lanes as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update as more information becomes available.
