Hinds County, MS (September 17, 2023) – A 41-year-old woman was left severely injured as a result of an accident that occurred in Hinds County on Friday evening, September 15.
At around 5:20 p.m., troopers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene of an accident that occurred on Interstate 20.
According to reports, a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck and a 2014 Lexus were both on the westbound shoulder of the interstate near mile marker 23. For unknown reasons, the two vehicles were struck by a 2007 Honda Civic.
Neither the driver of the Honda, 24-year-old Edith Taylor of Flowood, Mississippi, nor the driver of the Dodge, 45-year-old Brian Marshall of Brandon, Mississippi, suffered injuries in the accident.
The driver of the Lexus, 41-year-old Jocelyn Whipps of Byram, Mississippi, became pinned between the Lexus and the Dodge. Whipps had to be extricated by firefighters. She was transported by helicopter to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for emergency medical treatment.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
