Mississippi Auto Accidents
Every day, car accidents happen in the state of Mississippi. A percentage of these result in injuries for the people involved. Countless people have to be hospitalized due to the severity of their injuries. Some of the most prevalent causes of auto collisions in the state of Mississippi include:
- Speeding: Speeding is the main cause of auto crashes in the state of Mississippi. When drivers choose to drive at unsafe speeds, they risk their own lives and the lives of those they encounter on the road. Speeding makes it harder to stop in time to avoid a crash and increases the severity of any accident that does occur.
- Intoxication: Driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol is another major cause of car accidents in Mississippi. Drunk driving is particularly dangerous, as it severely impairs a driver’s judgment, coordination, and reaction time. Even prescription and over-the-counter medications can impair driving if used improperly. It’s important to always read the labels on medications and follow the directions carefully to avoid putting yourself and others at risk on the road.
- Running red lights: Red lights are located at intersections to protect motorists. It is important that drivers listen to the signals that are provided to them at intersections. Unfortunately, we see many people harmed as a result of drivers who run through stop signs and pass red lights at intersections.
