Jackson, MS (May 7, 2023) – Eight people suffered injuries after a vehicle collision in Jackson on the morning of Friday, May 5. The incident occurred after a police chase issued by Pearl police officers.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Friday when a police officer attempted to stop a red Dodge Charger without a license plate. The Charger ran from police who then pursued the vehicle.
The chase ended at the intersection of Raymond Road and Ellis Avenue with the Charger crashing into a Jeep occupied by six juveniles. Two individuals who were inside the charger and the six young people inside the Jeep all sustained injuries.
They were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment. Their identities and current health conditions have not been reported at this time.
The six individuals inside the Jeep were all under the age of 18, according to reports. Officers with the Jackson Police Department blocked traffic at the scene of the accident, however, the Mississippi Highway Patrol were called to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
