Jackson, MS (November 6, 2021) – On Friday morning, November 5, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred on a highway in Jackson.
According to Jackson Police, the accident happened on I-55 around the exit for Beasley Road and Adkins Boulevard. A pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was walking in the area when they were struck by a passenger vehicle due to unknown reasons. It is believed that the driver remained at the scene of the crash.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to their injuries. It is not believed that any other parties were hurt.
The roadway was blocked on the highway in the area of the exit for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
