Jackson, MS (October 29, 2023) – A report from a local news source in Jackson stated that two firefighters lost their lives in a traffic collision. The wreck occurred at around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 29.
Emergency responders went to the crash scene on Interstate 20 near the Clay Street exit. A vehicle occupied by two firefighters, identified as Jarod Squire and Derico Davis, lost control and collided with a light pole before catching fire.
Davis has been a member of the Vicksburg Fire Department since November 2022 while Squire was a member from December 2020. The reason the accident occurred is still under local law enforcement investigation at this time.
