Jackson, MS (October 22, 2023) – One person lost their life and another was injured in a car crash in Jackson. Police went to the scene of the accident at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22.
According to information provided by local authorities, an SUV with no lights ran a red light at a high rate of speed at the intersection of Lamar Street and Fortification Street. Preliminary reports show that when police attempted to stop the vehicle, they were unable to do so due to the high rate of speed at which the driver was traveling.
Shortly after officers lost sight of the vehicle, they noticed a cloud of dust at Fortification Street and Palmyra Street. It was there that they found the crashed vehicle. Two individuals were ejected during the collision, according to reports.
One person lost their life at the scene while the other was transported to an area medical center for treatment. Their names have not been released at this time.
