Mississippi Car Accidents
In the United States, auto collisions are a leading cause of serious injuries and fatalities. On a list of the top ten reasons people sustain injuries in the United States, automobile accidents rank 5th, according to information provided by the Centers for Disease Control. On average, the US sees over 30,000 fatal car crashes per year. Approximately 3% of those deaths occur in Mississippi. There are over 1,000 people who lose their lives per year in Mississippi due to car crashes.
Sustaining injuries in a car accident is scary and painful. Injured victims may not know how to get help if they find themselves financially struggling after they are injured in an accident. The average cost of recovering from serious injuries with the help of hospitalization is about $57,000. The cost of one ride in an ambulance is $900, while the average price of a visit to the emergency room is approximately $3,300. The question remains, depending on how an accident occurs, who is responsible for the damages that it caused?
Assuming you have health insurance, your policy should be able to cover the costs related to your crash. However, if it turns out that another person is responsible for the accident, your healthcare provider has the legal right to seek reimbursement for all medical costs paid on your behalf from the responsible party.
You are responsible for your medical bills by law, regardless of health insurance or medical payment coverage. Due to this, it is in your best interest to seek full and fair compensation for the damages you incurred as a result of your recent crash. If you were not responsible for the accident, the recovery amount you receive depends on the personal car insurance coverage or the number of damages. Therefore, retaining the services of a skilled car crash lawyer in Jackson is the key to maximizing your recovery.
