Jones County, MS (December 25, 2022) – A 51-year-old man has died as a result of a fatal accident that took place in Jones County. The crash was reported on December 23.
According to law enforcement, 51-year-old Joe Clayton of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was driving a Ford F1 50 pickup truck on US Route 11. As his vehicle passed through the area of 2255 US Route 11, he became involved in a collision.
The impact of the crash sent his vehicle into the woods, where it caught on fire.
Clayton suffered significant injuries as a result of the accident.
First responders reported to the scene of the accident with the volunteer firefighters from Macedonia and North Forest to provide assistance.
Crews arrived at the scene at approximately 3:45 p.m. and pronounced Clayton deceased from his injuries. No other injuries were reported.
At this time, the incident is under investigation by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
