Laurel, MS (December 30, 2021) – On Wednesday, December 30, one person was killed in a fatal bus accident in Laurel at an unspecified time.
According to officials with the ones County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened on US-84. A passenger vehicle was traveling in the area when, for reasons that are not yet known, it collided with a school bus in the area. The bus may have been stopped at the time of the accident. The crash led to extensive damages to the passenger vehicle.
Local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene, including various paramedics and fire crews in Jones County. The responders helped one or more parties at the scene. One person, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead due to traumatic injuries. It is not known if anyone was hospitalized.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes following the accident. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
