Laurel, MS (April 29, 2022) – A pregnant woman was injured in a serious school bus accident that took place in Laurel on Thursday morning, April 28.
According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened on MS-28 near the area of the West Jones High School at 7:45 a.m. A bus driver had dropped off students at the school and was headed to the bus barn to park the bus. She was waiting for a vehicle to make a turn when, all of a sudden, the bus collided with a Dodge Charger driven by 22-year-old Sylenna Taylor.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Taylor was taken to the hospital for pains in her stomach but her condition is not yet known. No children were on the bus at the time.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
