Laurel, MS (August 20, 2023) – As previously reported, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and several firefighters were sent to the scene of a fatal and fiery collision in Laurel on Saturday, August 19.
Highway 84 was blocked while responders worked at the scene of the incident that involved two vehicles that collided head-on for reasons still under police investigation. The crash occurred near Magnolia Road and caused one of the vehicles to catch fire, according to reports.
At around 7:30 p.m., three people were confirmed dead as a result of the collision. Their identities have not been reported at this time.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene along with several other responders. Police continue to investigate.
