Lucedale, MS (November 7, 2021) – Around 11 p.m. on the afternoon of Saturday, November 7, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Lucedale.
According to Jackson County officials, the accident happened on MS-613 just north of Piggly Wiggly. A man identified as 52-year-old John Wilson was crossing the highway in the area when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene to cooperate with the police.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Wilson was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Nobody else was injured in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked for an extended period of time.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
