Madison, MS (May 24, 2022) – One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident that took place on a highway in Madison on Tuesday afternoon, May 24.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of I-55 around the area of Gluckstadt Road. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other on the highway due to reasons that are not yet known. Both vehicles went into the median after they collided with each other, sustaining extensive damages.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One person, who has not yet been identified, was injured as a result of the accident. The injured party was rushed to the hospital by medical helicopter for treatment of severe injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but police continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
