Mendenhall, MS (December 19, 2021) – At 10 p.m. on the night of Friday, December 17, a man was killed in a fatal house fire in Mendenhall.
According to Rankin County officials, the incident happened when a fire broke out inside a home on Rose Hill Road. Fire crews arrived at the scene to find that a home was completely engulfed in flames in the area. It took some time for them to get the fire out. In doing so, they found out that one person may have been inside.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Fire crews found one person inside the home, identified as 67-year-old Harold Harris. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was able to make it out of the home unharmed.
The area was blocked for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
