Meridian, MS (February 9, 2023) – A fatal auto accident caused by an intoxicated driver happened in Meridian on Wednesday evening, February 8. The crash was caused by a man identified as 32-year-old Ricardo Vargas.
Vargas was arrested and charged with DUI Manslaughter due to a one-car crash he caused when he lost control of his vehicle and drove off the road. The accident occurred on North Lakeland Drive, according to reports.
One woman inside the car at the time lost her life. She was identified as Elizabeth “Ellie” Thrash, 23. Two others were also present in the vehicle at the time, however, it is unclear whether anyone else sustained injuries.
Authorities in Meridian continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
