Meridian, MS (December 10, 2021) – At 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening, December 8, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Meridian.
According to Meridian Police, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-20 around the area of exit 153. The victim, identified as 58-year-old William Sullivan, was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a possibly Chevy that was traveling in the area. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Nobody else was injured as a result of the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
