Meridian, MS (November 22, 2022) – One person is currently recovering in a local hospital after being injured during a structure fire in Meridian on Thursday, November 17th.
The Meridian Fire Chief said that crews were dispatched for reports of a house fire in the 300th block of 5th Avenue at about 5:00 a.m. As the scene was being contained, a flashover occurred. A flashover, he explained, is when a fire rapidly spreads across a wide area due to intense heat.
One person who was in the home when the flashover occurred sustained second-degree burns to his extremities.
This incident is under investigation by the Meridian Fire Department, which also responded to two other fires that same morning.
