Meridian, MS (December 20, 2021) – At 12:20 p.m. on the afternoon of Monday, December 20, a tractor-trailer collision occurred in Meridian.
According to Lauderdale County officials, the accident happened on I-20. Three trucks were traveling in traffic when one allegedly lost control, causing the accident between the other two. One of the trucks slammed into a barricade on the highway, which caused it to lose fuel all over the highway in the area. The vehicles were badly damaged as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Ambulances were present at the scene, though it is not known how many parties were injured. The parties were rushed to local hospitals, though their conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for some time. First responders took some time cleaning up the fuel spill.
