Monroe County, MS (April 16, 2023) – Authorities confirmed that two people were left injured as a result of a motor vehicle accident that took place in Monroe County on Thursday afternoon.
The accident was reported just before 2:00 p.m. on April 13.
According to officials, a school bus and an 18-wheeler collided on Highway 45 during the afternoon hours. Reports show that a 2020 Freightliner was traveling north on the highway when it crashed into the right side of the school bus as it was attempting to cross over the northbound lanes of the highway from Lake Lily Road.
The incident blocked the intersection, causing delays throughout the area.
Two people were injured as a result of the crash. The victims were treated at the scene and transported to area hospitals.
At this time, the Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
