Monticello, MS (March 3, 2022) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident that took place on a major roadway in Monticello on Tuesday night, March 1.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed that the accident happened around 8:21 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of US-84. A female pedestrian was walking in the area when she was suddenly struck by a Ford F-150 that was traveling east. It is believed that the pedestrian may have been crossing the road at the time. The driver of the Ford remained at the scene.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as 47-year-old Christi Sullivan, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene. This led to delays in the area for some time.
