Natchez, MS – One Killed in House Fire on Brookfield Dr near Cross St

Natchez, MS (February 11, 2023) – A serious house fire happened in Natchez that claimed one life on Sunday, February 5. The incident was reported to firefighters in the area at approximately 11:00 p.m. 

The blaze occurred in the 100 block of Brookfield Drive near Cross Street. One person, identified as Dr. Ruby As-Sabor, lost their life in the fire. As-Sabor was the services director at the Natchez-Adams School District. 

Fire crews took several hours to completely douse the flames. They were at the scene until the early morning hours on Monday, February 6. 

Volunteer fire crews from the Adams County Fire Services assisted the Natchez Fire Department at the site of the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
