Natchez, MS (February 9, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal crash that took place on a major Natchez highway on Wednesday, February 9.
According to Natchez Police, the collision happened on the Melrose Montebello Parkway around the area of the United Mississippi Bank Building. A driver was traveling in the area when they suddenly lost control of their vehicle due to unknown reasons. The vehicle crashed, which caused it to flip over multiple times. Three people inside the vehicle were ejected as a result.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to assist those in need. One of the passengers, identified as a 27-year-old female, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Another victim was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in critical condition. A third victim was also taken to the hospital with critical injuries by ambulance.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
