Oxford, MS (May 15, 2022) – At 3:10 p.m. on the afternoon of Saturday, May 14, a car accident took place on a major roadway in Oxford.
According to Oxford Police Department, the accident took place around 3:10 p.m. at 900 Whirlpool Drive around the area of Flatts at South Campus. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when one or more lost control. This caused the vehicles to forcefully collide with each other, leading to extensive damages.
Several local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Fire crews extricated victims from their vehicles and paramedics transported injured parties to local hospitals. It is not known how many victims in total were affected by the accident.
The roadway was blocked for an extended period of time following the collision. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
Police continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
