Oxford, MS (May 8, 2022) – Police confirmed that a car crash took place on a roadway in Oxford on Sunday afternoon, May 8.
According to the Oxford Police Department, calls came in around 12:20 p.m. at 400 Merchants Drive around the area of Ross Dress for Less. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that several vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided due to reasons that are not entirely known. The involved vehicles had to be removed from the scene by tow trucks due to severe damages.
Several Oxford responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to assist those in need. One or more unidentified parties were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment for their injuries. Police have not confirmed how severe their injuries are.
The roadway was blocked in a variety of lanes following the collision. Police confirmed that the roadway was reopened within the hour so traffic could resume as normal.
All parties have been cooperating with the investigation and it is not known if any charges are to be expected.
