Oxford, MS (May 26, 2022) – One or more victims were hurt in a car accident that took place on a major roadway in Oxford on Thursday afternoon, May 26.
According to the Oxford Police Department, the accident happened at 1:05 p.m. at 2530 Jackson Avenue. Two or more vehicles were traveling in the westbound lanes of traffic near the area of Walmart when they suddenly collided with each other. The exact circumstances leading up to the accident are not yet known but the involved vehicles were heavily damaged.
Paramedics and fire crews in the area immediately arrived at the scene so that they could assist those with injuries. Several parties sustained injuries in the accident. The injured parties were offered treatment at the scene and were then rushed to local hospitals for further treatment.
Motorists in the area were told to avoid the area for an extended period of time. Police and other responders quickly worked to clear the scene.
No other information has been released at this time. Oxford Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
