Oxford, MS (February 7, 2022) – On Saturday, February 5, one person was killed in a fatal house fire that happened in a home in Oxford.
According to Oxford Fire Department officials, the fire took place in a home on County Road 120 just off of Highway 314 around 9:30 p.m. Fire crews received a call that a home was fully engulfed in flames and smoke. By the time they arrived at the scene, they found that the house was inaccessible but they received information that there was one person inside the home.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Fire crews were eventually able to access the home, where they found one person inside. The individual was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the fire, the area was blocked for an extended period of time. It took fire crews some time to bring the fire under control.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
