Mississippi Auto Collisions
No one wants to become involved in an auto accident, however, most of us will at some point in our lives. The likelihood of becoming involved in a car crash is about one in 366 for every 1,000 miles driven, according to car insurance estimates. The average person can expect to be involved in three or four car wrecks in their lifetime, or about one every 17 years or so.
When you or someone you love has been hurt in a crash, you’re not alone. Millions of people in the United States suffer injuries in auto accidents every year. On average, around 3 million people are hurt in vehicle collisions every year. In Mississippi, tens of thousands of people are injured in auto wrecks every year.
The main cause of auto collisions in Mississippi is drunk driving. A major problem in Mississippi, intoxicated driving accounted for 18% of all traffic collision deaths in Mississippi in one recent year. Another common cause of auto accidents in Mississippi is distracted driving. Distracted driving can be defined as texting and driving, talking on the phone, changing the radio station, eating, putting on makeup, or any other activity that takes a driver’s attention away from the road for any amount of time. Distracted driving can lead to injurious and even fatal auto collisions.
Accidents caused by driver negligence are often more severe than other types of wrecks. This is because negligent drivers usually have impaired judgment, or reduced reaction times, which makes for more severe, catastrophic collisions. If you or someone you love has been hurt in a crash caused by negligence, you deserve to be compensated for your losses.
