Oxford, MS (April 28, 2022) – A teen was killed in a fatal two-vehicle accident that occurred on an Oxford highway on Wednesday morning, April 27.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened around 2:06 a.m. on MS-6. Police confirmed that 51-year-old Derrick Williams was driving an International tractor-trailer in the area and headed east. His truck collided with a Ford Focus that was being driven by a 17-year-old girl who was headed east. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result of the collision.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The teen was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. The driver of the truck did not have injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
