Oxford, MS (October 9, 2021) – At 7:33 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, October 6, a fatal accident with injuries occurred in Oxford.
According to Oxford Police, the accident happened on MS-7 near the Dollar General. Two vehicles were traveling in the southbound lanes of traffic when they collided due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Two women in one vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. The parties have since been identified as 66-year-old Sandra Cooks and 36-year-old Patricia Gullette. The other driver involved in the accident was taken to the hospital but their condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
