Perry County, MS (February 26, 2024) – Two people from Richton lost their lives in a collision that occurred in Perry County. Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol went to the scene of the two-car accident on Mississippi Highway 15 at approximately 9:05 p.m. Police say a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia operated by a 56-year-old from Blackshear, Georgia, was headed north on Highway 15 when it was involved in a crash with a 2018 Chevrolet Impala. The Impala was operated by Willie Mitchell, 75, who was accompanied by Louise McSwain, 70. Both were fatally injured in the crash and pronounced deceased on-site. Police are still investigating.
