Philadelphia, MS (February 3, 2022) – Around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, February 2, a teen was injured in a pedestrian crash that happened in Philadelphia.
According to Neshoba County officials, the accident took place at the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Line Street. Police attempted to make a traffic stop in the area when the driver of the vehicle took off. The officer lost sight of the driver and terminated the pursuit but continued onward near the intersection.
When he reached the intersection, he found the driver’s Ford Explorer crashed into a home at the intersection. A 13-year-old was playing video games inside the home and was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the Ford got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 13-year-old pedestrian was injured in the accident. He was taken to Neshoba General Hospital but his condition is not yet known.
Philadelphia Police later located the driver of the Ford, identified as Jeremy Howard Henry, in the woods behind a local church. He was charged but his charges have not yet been revealed.
The area was blocked near the intersection for some time following the collision.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
