Pike County, MS (January 23, 2024) – Two people were killed in Pike County in a fatal traffic accident. Reports from authorities show the accident happened at around 8:36 p.m. on Sunday, January 21.
Multiple responders went to the scene on Interstate 55 after receiving reports concerning the crash. The Mississippi Highway Patrol reports a 2007 Cadillac Escalade operated by 19-year-old Mauricio Gonzalez was headed south on the interstate when it drove off of the roadway and turned over before colliding with a tree. Two passengers, identified as Carlos Gonzalez, 25, and Oscar Gonzalez, 19, lost their lives at the scene. Authorities in Pike County continue to investigate.
