Pope, MS (February 18, 2023) – A 72-year-old woman, identified as Rose Marie Carr, 72, lost her life in a house fire. The fire happened on Tuesday morning, February 14, in Pope.
Reports show the blaze occurred on McNeely Road at around 4:00 a.m. for reasons still under police investigation. Authorities say they believe the fire may have been related to electrical issues.
Carr called the fire department from inside the house but was unable to make it out. She died of smoke inhalation, according to information from the coroner.
Authorities in Pope continue to investigate the details of the incident.
