Prentiss, MS (April 27, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal car accident that took place on a major highway in Prentiss on Sunday morning, April 24.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened around 6 a.m. on MS-13. Police confirmed that a 58-year-old driver from Prentiss was traveling north in a Toyota CBS when they lost control of their vehicle. The vehicle left the road, where it overturned forcefully. The vehicle sustained heavy damages as a result of the accident.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The front-seat passenger in the Toyota, identified as 66-year-old James Sands Sr., was severely injured and pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known if the driver sustained injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the collision.
