Mississippi Traffic Collisions
In the United States, car crashes are a leading cause of serious injuries and fatalities. More than 40,000 individuals were killed in 2021 due to car crashes in the United States. This is approximately 10% higher than the previous year and the largest yearly increase in fatalities recorded, according to the National Highway Traffic Association. The truth of just how hazardous vehicles can be often gets overlooked due to how common the use of cars and other vehicles is in American society.
Each year, tens of thousands of Mississippi residents sustain injuries due to car wrecks. More than 1,000 people reportedly lose their lives in auto crashes each year in Mississippi. Though no one looks forward to getting hurt in a car crash, these incidents occur constantly. Throughout the United States, approximately 13 auto collisions are reported per minute. About 27% of all car wrecks end in injuries, which is equal to about three injury accidents every 60 seconds.
Estimates by car insurance companies state that the odds of you becoming involved in an auto accident during a trip traveling about 1,000 miles are approximately 1 in 366. The average American driver files an insurance claim involving a car accident once every 18 years. When you or a loved one of yours is hurt in a car accident, it is important to be able to determine how the wreck occurred.
